Class E Boards, MOSFETs and Kits of Parts

Postby steve_qix » Thu Mar 01, 2007 2:17 pm

I've finally got around to doing the class E boards and kits of parts.

There are boards for all of the modulators, control (shutdown/efficiency), mic preamp/compressor and all of the parts for these boards.

More info can be found at: The class E web site Parts page

Also have all of the MOSFETs, transistors, diodes, etc. used for the modulators and RF amplifiers.

More kits are coming in the future, but that may take a while :-)

Regards,

Steve

Fine Business Steve! :D

I can appreciate how much work is saved when you don't have to hunt down the correct parts to fit the board, and the heartbreak of a back-ordered UCC25701N.

Two questions on the kits:

Which aliasing filter configuration is included with the PWM gen board parts?

Are IRFP260N MOSFETs or DSEI30-06 diodes included with the PWM output board parts?

As always, thanks for all your hard work Steve. I wouldn't be surprised if these E-rigs started popping up like mushrooms on 75m!

Thanks ! Excellent questions :-)

The PWM output board kit does not include any output MOSFETs / Damper diode combinations. These vary with the desired power level. Figure up to 250 watts power input per MOSFET / Damper diode pair.

The PWM generator board kit includes parts for the 6 pole, 5.7kHz filter.

Thanks again for the questions ! I modified the parts page to reflect this information 8)

Steve

Rev D of the PWM board set is now available.

This board set is similar to the Rev C board set (PWM generator board, Overload shutdown/Efficiency meter board, PWM output board), with some enhancements and improvements.

There is also a new board which faciltates VFO construction or connection of an existing frequency source for use in driving digital class E transmitters.

The new board produces a two phase (push pull) output with on-time duty cycle control. This allows optimum adjustment of the output RF waveform to achieve maximum efficiency and balance between modules in push-pull class E transmitters.
