Heatsinks

Postby N9NEO » Sat Oct 11, 2003 9:05 am

Where I work we use lots of heatsinks. Sinks range from small 3"x5" to very large assemblies. Some made for natural convection, others have higher fin density and holes extruded for various sized fans. Smallest natural convection sink about 2c/w. Medium sized with 2 80mm fans about 0.067c/w.

Production has a bin of rejects. Could be drilled wrong, broke tap, etc. When bin is full, contents sold for scrap.

I haven't approached boss, but I'm fairly certain he would sell to me for scrap price. If he agrees, I would like to make available to anyone who might want them. I have pdf files and performance data for each sink.

If you find it difficult to locate a heatsink, or find one but too expensive, maybe I can help out. If any interest I will persue with boss.

We do buy over million $ in sinks every year, and million $ in IGBT modules from same rep firm. I have some pull with heatsink house. If there is a particular sink that makes sense out of catalog I could have extra material pulled and cut to any length.

Ok, I'll talk to owner. In meantime if anybody has requirement let me know. I admit I haven't paid much attention to sink requirements, so have no idea what anybody would be looking for. Boss gave me a sink for my smps modulator - From a 30hp drive. If smps modulator doesn't work out I can use it for an anvil.
