otput transformers

Postby gtd » Fri Oct 07, 2005 3:07 am

on the WA1QIX home page about class E PA's it was mentioned that sheilded cable with the sheild used as one conductor and the two inner cables could be used as a transformer without using a ferrite core , has any one tried this and if it did work what kind of dimentions were used. Second question has anyone tried a trifilar wound transformer on a pvc former with any sucess. My interest is 160 metres and a large PA coil does not present an issue.

Shielded wire as a transformer is only good at VHF / UHF you will need ferrite to keep the size small on 160 to 10 meters. Search the WEB for Motorola app note AN749 on broad band transformers of cebik book on transformers. gfz
