Another thought from the bizzare brain of VE7KHz

Postby VE7KHz » Fri Jan 31, 2003 4:47 pm

Just a thought.

If I have a nice low level modulator, read HP sig gen with external modulation, can I pump that into the front end of the class E amp? I am thinking the Class E is very non linear and as such, can't amplify modulated waves. Am I correct?

I had my HP8640 modulated by some external audio going into a TMC linear before and it worked great. Was just a very large power supply and such to deal with.

Thanks guys.

Paul

Class E is definitely NON-Linear

Hi!

No way to use class E by itself as a linear amplifier.

There are some techniques of envelope demodulation and recapture whic may be applicable, however this requires a significant amount of technical gymnastics. Pete, WA1SOV knows quite a bit about this.

Steve
